How does Maths relate to the World Economy?

I have an interest in the World Economy, especially the far easts rapid growth e.g. India and China.

Can you suggest ways that Mathematics and Statistics has played apart in the growth and possible obstacles for these countries. Also, how could Maths and Statistics relates to the corruption that they have experienced.

Any relevant suggestions would be interesting to hear.

math is the foundation of science and technology, which in turn drive the economic growth.

There is no direct connection to corruption. You can use statiscal analysis and mathematical model to study why is corruption is increasing or decreasing in various circumstances, but here math is just a research tool, it plays no part in the corruption itself.
